Abstract
There are many time scales and length scales involved in fires. This presentation will focus on modeling aspects in turbulence and combustion, as well as some aspects of radiation. It will be illustrated how a step-wise approach allows to make decisions. Two cases will be discussed in depth, namely the plume of a methanol pool fire and a case where a water spray interacts with a thermal plume.
